The Eagle Rank is Scouting's highest honor. The Eagle Rank, is not easily acquired. The boy, in the process of becoming a man, must prove himself in many ways. The most important of all is leadership. The merit badges are great, they open many doors of experience and opportunity, the training and subordinate ranks are key to the developement of the Scout.
Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 1.7 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912.
